When I think of the story of Job, here is what plays out in my head:
Job’s Wife: “Like seriously, after all that has happened, are you still holding on to your faith in God?? There’s no point doing so. Just denounce your faith in God! What’s the worst that can happen? Death?? You are as good as dead anyway!”
[Job is shocked by his Wife’s comment.]
Job: “What?? 😳😳 Why do you speak so foolishly, my Dear? When God sends something good our way, we gladly welcome it. So why do we complain when He allows us to experience some difficulty?”
…and that’s not even the part that gets me…
With all that happened, Job was careful with his words such that he did not sin against God!
… that’s the part which gets me all of the time!
“…shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.” (Job 2:10 KJV)
In life, there are different times/seasons we must all experience. During the daytime, everything around us blooms; we have clear vision and direction; we are very productive. On the other hand, nighttime moments are periods of silence when everything before us is blurry, and we can’t seem to find our way. Each time has its peculiarities. There are also periods when we transition between seasons – like sunset and sunrise.

Irrespective of your current season, your attitude is critically important.
In the quoted passage, Job was going through the most challenging phase of his life. He had unexpectedly lost virtually everything he owned, his health was failing, and the only person in the world who should be a source of encouragement to him had come to him with discouragement.
Job’s faith in God and positivity during his trying times are exemplary.
Where are the men (and women) like Job today?
✅ Those whose faith in God does not waiver based on their circumstances.
✅ Those who would maintain their spiritual integrity during the good times as well as the bad times.
✅ Those whose confidence in God can silence even the loudest voices of fear and discouragement in their heads.
✅ Those whose words are always seasoned with grace, even during their greatest moments of despair.
Can God count on you to be a person of integrity and faith like Job?
My prayer for you is that your faith in God remains unshakable through all the changing scenes of life!
